Can we stop the petty squabbling please? This is a blog about Worcester Park. The reader comments should be about the article, not directed at each other. I'm all for a bit of lively debate where all involved are welcome to their thoughts, but please stop being childish. Put your energy into expressing an opinion, not attacking one another.

We live in the proximity of flight paths for a number of major airports and minor airfields. We experience aircraft noise everyday. What about the Chinooks and other helicopters that fly past at low level rocking the foundations and vibrating the patio windows each day too?

There was no sonic boom over WP - just the very loud turbofan engines. I doubt very much they'd be given permission to fly supersonic at 1000ft over built up areas. The resulting sonic boom would result in damage to greenhouses etc at the very least.

I really do not think that insulting me or being sarcastic is the way forward, cleary someone got out of bed the wrong side and thought that you would pick on me. Calling my home a "pathetic nimby hovel" has absolutely no impact on me.
I find it interesting that they have reported it in the Uxbridge news, which we don't get in my "pathetic nimby hovel" in wonderful Worcester Park.
My point is...With some official leaving the security documents on the train...we heard about that. The volunteers in their super uniforms...we heard about that and all via the news.
I do not object to any of it. It would have been nice to hear about it so we can all be prepared for the noise and for some of us to try and get a look at the planes. Someone else made a comment that their kids were scared. Do you think that they also live in a hovel? I don't have a problem with people dropping items, fireworks or cars backfiring.

On a practical note, what use would a Eurofighter Typhoon be to deal with any likely or unlikely disruption relating to the Olympics? Air defence fighters are hardly going to stop a threat that's already arrived and at an Olympic venue.

And presumably the RAF would seek to intercept any airborne threat as it entered UK airspace, rather than sit watching it on radar, progressing towards Wembley, then burst into life, only once it had arrived?

Not very happy about it. 8.40 I was home alone with the dog and then it sounded like a 747 was heading towards the house. I think they could have warned London via the local neaw that it was going to happen rather than sit here watching my life flash before my eyes. Thankfully it was not the 747 heading to get me but training for the Olympics. Thanks for the communication team 2012 officials! thank goodness for the WP blog and facebook and Uxbridge news where we have found out what it is all about. Pee'd off of Worcester Park!
