Theft from Car at Nonsuch

A Blog reader has just emailed to let people know about a theft from his car which was parked in the Cheam Road car park of Nonsuch Park. It happened on Wednesday evening  (10th Apr) between 6pm and 7pm. It seems likely that someone was waiting and watching because they had hidden a handbag in the boot and the thief had smashed the side window, reached in and pulled the back seat forward to take it. With fitness and other classes occurring at regular times, it might seem an opportunist criminal's dream. Please keep an eye out and take precautions in situation like this. In any emergency or if a crime is happening now - always call 999.

Update 15th April
Another car has been broken into in Nonsuch Park and valuables stolen. Apparently the thief watched the owner hide them in boot. Thanks @MaryBurstow for the tweet.

I understand from speaking to residents of Nonsuch ward (on the doorstep) that some residents feel crime is on the up, certainly burglary and anti-social behaviour. I know from the crime mapping website from the Metropolitan Police that reported crime is static over the last three years. However, that is reported crime and I think especially in the case of anti-social behaviour a lot of these crimes go un-reported.

I would like to hear from a member of the safer neighbourhood team or another appropriate officer to report how the local police intend to deal with this perception of rising anti-social behaviour, burglary and theft in the area.

I have read the local neighbourhood panel priorities which set the Safer Neighbourhood Team priorities, However, I feel the SNT response lacks basic details like will the police be allocating extra night time patrols? When will these be in the evening? and will they be in response vehicles or officers on the beat, I would prefer both.
