Police Tipped Off

The Metropolitan Police service is investigating after hundreds of its own leaflets were found fly-tipped in woodland in Worcester Park.

The newsletters from the Metropolitan Police's Worcester Park Safer Neighbourhoods Team should have been distributed to homes and businesses across the local area but instead were dumped in undergrowth near Worcester Park Station.

Two carrier bags containing around 700 copies of the Spring 2012 newsletter were discovered on Saturday afternoon in woods bordering on the Worcester Park Athetic Club's grounds.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the Worcester Park Blog that the distribution of the leaflets falls under the remit of New Scotland Yard which commissions a company to deliver them, and confirmed that appropriate action would be taken.

The leaflets, which are in pristine condition, have been recovered by the Worcester Park Blog and will be returned to the Metropolitan Police for re-use.

Blunderground

Very occasionally things happen in Worcester Park without me spotting them but I think I would have noticed, however, if we had suddenly been connected to the London Underground network.

It has happened already, though, if you are to believe the advertisements for H&T Pawnbrokers which have appeared around the local area.

According to their billboard posters, the new Central Road branch is just a few minutes' walk away from Worcester Park's very own Underground station.

Mind the gap!

Dog Track

A Worcester Park dog lover is keen for news on the fate of a dog she spotted running up and down the tracks of Worceseter Park station this morning. She writes:

"The dog looked like a labrador retriever, and was quite bedraggled, so may have been lost for a while. If this is anybodys dog, who is looking for it, or it has been returned to them please let me know! I did notify the police and would love to know that it got home safe."

If you have news of the dog, do let us know!

Bin Wasting Money

Thank you, Sutton Council, for spending our Council Tax money on the fancy red labels you have tied to all of our brown bins informing us that our rubbish collection day is still going to be a Wednesday (as it has been for years and years).

Inspired decision making there.
