Fire, Flood and.....

Emergency services were called to the Poundland store in Central Road this morning after fire broke out shortly after midnight. The blaze, which broke out in store's entrance, has caused damage to the shop frontage and sign.

The store is currently closed.

Meanwhile Donnington Road has been hit by flooding following a large burst water main. Water services in the area have also been disrupted.

There are currently no reports of pestilence in Worcester Park. Yet.

A Cleaner High Street? said...

Fire damage apart, I think that the whole forecourt to Poundland should be kept in a cleaner state, never mind the wheelie bins which seem to contain more rubbish from the kebab shop than Poundland. In fact maybe Sutton Council should use some of Boris’s money and give the whole High Street a good deep clean and get it part way back to how nice it used to look many moons ago.

Agreed. The fire damage is actually an Improvement on the usual appearance.

I agree too. As you enter Worcester Park, your first sight of it is the railway bridge, invariably with a coating of graffiti and then the Poundland forecourt.

At least the look of Midas Touch is a great improvement on the tired Huntsman's Hall and (in the short-term) we won't have to put up with a mosque surrounded by illegally parked cars.
