I appreciate it's only the beginning of December, but you can normally count on at least a handful of over-enthusiastic Worcester Parkers to break out the inflatable snowmen in November, drape their houses with distasteful flashing multicoloured lights and whack Santa Stop Here signs in their front gardens.
Unless of course you've spotted early signs of festive tack in Worcester Park - in which case I'm sure you'll point it out to me.

Another thing I've noticed as we've had a decent snowfall this week is the lack of snowmen. In the roads of WP I've walked over the last few days I haven't noticed a single one (apart from one which was an inflatable Xmas decoration). Compare it with the early part of this year when we had the freak heavy snowpour and there were snowmen in every other front garden including some giant ones, notably on Malden Green. Mind you the February/March? snowfall which gave everyone an unexpected day off did have a carnival atmosphere, great sense of community in WP as I remember it.
I spotted my first lit up tree last weekend, and other houses already decked out today, so they are starting on the Old Malden side of WP
there are a few signs of lights going up, maybe its the recession taking bite or maybe its just so cold people dont want to go out and set them up yet
Just drove down Leyfield in Old Malden, the lights there are as good as ever.
My four year old helped build two snowmen in front of our neighbour's house, only for one of them to be deliberately kicked over by mindless teenage boys ...
My tree is going up on Sunday with the help of my eldest grandson
Well done to all the residents of Leyfield for putting on what must be the "best" lights in the area at least these residents have a true community spirit, which is sadly lacking in most areas. Long may it continue to get better and better as years go by. It's an absolute treat to drive down there at night - Come on the rest of you show some Xmas Cheer !!!!!!!
